The Cleaners were always a flexible band, members coming and going, but revolving around Martin,Lol Elliot and latterly Giles Smith.
Finally, in 1986 they ventured into a proper recording studio down Tin Pan Alley and came out with the masterpiece, Going To England. After little success, and a run in with RCA in Germany, the Cleaners folded, only to re-invent themselves as Brotherhood Of Lizards, with an album on Captain Sensibles Deltic Records.
Since then, Martin has divided his time between poetry, he
writes a weekly poem for the Independant, and recording. His firt solo album was produced by Andy Partridge of XTC, and his second, by Louis Philippe.
