The Sound Stage

Since moving into new premises at Farmer Parr's the group's options have increased incredibly. With over 1600 square feet of studio space it seemed that scope would be unlimited. However, the farmhouse set already occupies almost half of the studio so the building of the sound stage required careful planning. Until now all filming has been done on location and the building of a customised sound stage will allow much greater creativity for all concerned. |

Being the group's gaffer Jim mobilised the group and making use of pieces of redundant set. Armed with five hammers and as many saws, some new timber and panelling and with more than a little improvisation the sound stage starts to take shape. |

After a few hours the sound stage is almost
ready for its first lick of undercoat and implementation of a design for
a scene for 39 Grammes will begin.

Nine flats later and two panels are removed for the installation of a window. First coats of paint have been applied but wallpaper may be necessary to camouflage some of the section joins. |

Although invisible in these photos, a
lighting rig has been built and is suspended above the sound stage.
